more likely the intel series because they are not going to fail in multitasking and like the celeron, the celeron processor runs only at 5/6 of it's speed of wut it says on the box

look it all depends on ur need. celeron, right from 850 uptill now r perfect if u want pc just for home.means no work related to movie editing, internet server or lke this. but if it is to be used heavily u should prefer p4 or p3 with max hz freq. & of course speed depends on other things too like RAM etc.

Every processor is best, it is not a question of today but it is a question of your useage. Suppose that you are running simply internet and typing work of official work then go for AMD or Celeron even cyrix. but you are a fond of film editing and other work like photoshop version above 5 then you must use ofcourse Pentium IV.

First What is ur Need. The Celeron is Very best for you if you like browsing the web or run any software. But if you want a gamming experience you want to buy a Intel Pentium4 2.4GHZ 1MB L2 Cache.
Keep an eye on your pocket if its full please buy a P4 2.4 GHZ Ram 512MB Intel 865GBF Motherbord 52X Max Samsung CD-Drive Geeforce FX5200 and a 17" Compaq Monitor. 56K Apache or 1000\100 Gigabit Lan 120GB Seagate\Maxtor Drive
